Evelyn Kathleen (Hansen) Gilbert, 82, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday afternoon, November 3, 2025, at home after a brief illness.

Evelyn was born 10th out of ten children April 15, 1943, in Bellevue, to the late Walter and Mabel (Bordner) Hansen.

Evelyn was a dedicated and hardworking woman, spending many years employed at Erie County Job & Family Services, Davis-Besse, Sears, Home Depot, and later in life at Cracker Barrel. Evelyn enjoyed sewing and crafting, and she lovingly made homemade outfits for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and rarely missed a chance to watch them play in their many sports. A devoted Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Evelyn also loved shopping for material at JoAnn Fabrics.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Brian S. (Tina) Gilbert of Sandusky and Todd A. (Molly) Gilbert of Huron; granddaughters, Skylar, Meadow and Kate Gilbert; grandsons, Max (Nina) King and Jacob King; and great-grandchildren, Valley and Romeo King; sisters, Iola Debolt and Carolyn Thiede; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her son, Glen M. Gilbert; four brothers, Charles, Howard, Cecil, and Arthur Hansen; and three sisters, Marjorie Hansen, Pauline Joseph, and Marilyn McClain.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow at Milan Cemetery, Milan.
