F. Jeanne Butler Gilbert, 100, born Aug. 24, 1923, in Loudonville, took her final journey Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023.

Jeanne's life was filled with love and laughter. She was the only child of Clifford and Anna (Sidle) Miller.

Jeanne moved to the Sandusky area in 1945 after graduating from The Ohio State University. She began her career working for Ohio Fuel and Gas Company as a Home Service Advisor. It was on a blind date in Sandusky that Jeanne met Roy Butler. They married and a few years later, started a family. After the children were in middle school, Jeanne was an instructor at Sandusky School of Practical Nursing and Providence School of Nursing from the 1960s to the 1980s. Her knowledge of foods and nutrition kept her family and friends well-fed. She will be remembered by her students for her reference to "green leafy vegetables."

After 51 years of marriage, Roy died in 1997. In 2005, Jeanne found love again. She married George Gilbert, a long-time family friend.

Jeanne never turned down a game of cards and as an avid bridge player, enjoyed membership in several bridge clubs in Huron and Sandusky. She enjoyed golf and played in several leagues until 2018. She loved to travel - if she didn't have to plan the trip.

Jeanne leaves a proud linage of love and strength which includes her cherished daughters and son, Kathy Butler, JoEllen Moneck, and Brian (Joanne) Butler. Jeanne's joy will be remembered by her grandchildren, Andrew (Brooke) Wynot and Erin Barylski, great-granddaughter, Ava Wynot, and special cousins, Don and MaryLou Sidle. The extended family includes Ruth Ann Gilbert Newcomer, Mary Ellen Gilbert (Mike) Flack, and Paul (Kathy) Gilbert, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jeanne was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Sandusky Civic Club, Sandusky Sailing Club-First Mates, and Eastern Star. She was a member of both Huron United Methodist Church and Sandusky Congregational United Church of Christ. If desired, donations to either church may be made in her memory.

She gave her body to The Ohio State University.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.
