Faye Waldron, 98, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2022. She lived with her family in Berlin Heights.

Faye was born in Butler County, Ohio, to Bob and Jessie Gillespie, and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in music. Shortly after college, Faye met Jim Waldron, and due to some skillful matchmaking by Jim's mom, they fell in love and were married in 1946. They welcomed their daughter, Faye Ann, in 1948, and twin sons, Bob and Bill, in 1949. Faye taught at several schools in the 1940s and 1950s, eventually finding a home in the 1960s at Lake Elementary School in Vermilion.

She launched a vocal music program full of energy and creativity. Her boys' choir was her pride and joy. She retired in 1980. A born entertainer, Faye loved playing piano for people at every opportunity, such as weddings, restaurants, churches, and family gatherings. She also loved playing bass fiddle with local theater orchestras. Musician, collector, historian, gardener, artist, writer, and dog-lover, Faye filled every minute of her life all the while enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

Faye is survived by a daughter, Faye Ann (Rick) Hillis; son, Bob (Bonnie) Waldron; grandson, James Waldron; granddaughters, Kara Simenz and Emily Haley; and great-grandson, Will.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; sister, Jean; and son, Bill.

Faye's funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, at Berlin Heights Congregational United Church of Christ, 5 E. Main Street, Berlin Heights, with a fellowship immediately following in the Fowler Room.

There will be no visitation or graveside.
