Freda Schatz Obituary

Freda L. Schatz

Apr 5, 1949 - Aug 3, 2023

Sandusky

Freda L. Schatz, 74, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Freda was born April 5, 1949, in Columbus, to Charles Ray Crum and Zella Mae Long (Dodge).

She graduated from Mason Senior High School in Erie, Michigan, in 1968. Freda met her husband, Dave, in Toledo in 1972. They moved to Sandusky in 1981, where together they owned and operated a small craft business, "Wood N Stuff." Freda was the resident manager of Chelsea Court Apartments for 23 years. She was also employed by Sandusky City Schools as a school bus aide for 17 years, where she enjoyed spoiling her "bus kids" with her famous home-baked cookies. In addition to baking, Freda enjoyed gardening and would spend sunup to sundown in her yard planting flowers and listening to Kenny Rogers.

She is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Nicole Schatz of Sandusky; son, David Schatz II; grandchildren, Bryan and Alyson Houseman and Danica and Dru Schatz; sister, Mary (Dan) Adams of Monroe, Michigan; and brother, David (Cheryl) Dodge of Buckeye Lake.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; and grandparents, Harold and Freda Crum.

Freda is also survived by the many aides and nurses of Stein Hospice, who she was unable to know personally, but became family to her loved ones.

Per Freda's request, there will be no memorial service or visitation.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is handling arrangements.
