Gary L. Denne, 86, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, following a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 21, 1937, in Cleveland. He was a member of United Methodist Church, Huron. Gary was a 1955 graduate of Fairview High School. A talented athlete, he lettered in football, basketball, track, and wrestling, and was awarded 1955's Outstanding Letterman. In 2014, he was inducted into Fairview High School's Athletic Hall of Fame. He was also a 1959 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design. He owned and operated his own landscaping business, Denne Landscaping.

He was also employed by NASA Plumbrook Station and Ford Motor Company, retiring in Oct., 2000. He loved singing in his church choir and various area choirs, including Firelands Symphony Chorale, Lorain Barbershop Chorus, and Independence Barbershop Chorus. Along with his love of music, he was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family, neighbors, and friends.

Gary is survived by three daughters, Diane Woodruff and Ellen (Dale) Coffman, both of Sandusky, and Lynda (Ryan) Adkins of Vermilion; grandchildren, Michael (Elana) Walton, Kelli Lottman, Jessica Woodruff, Joseph (Marlene) Adkins, and Rachel Adkins; great-grandsons, Ethan and Connor Walton; brother, Ronald (Betty) Denne of Naples, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dotti (Bullock) Denne; parents, Lynn and Martha (Johnson) Denne; and brother, Bruce Denne.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Gary's funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at The United Methodist Church, 338 Williams St., Huron, with Pastor Pamela J. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
