Gary Jones Obituary

Gary Jones

Jun 24, 1964 - Nov 1, 2025

Green Springs

Gary Jones, 61, formerly of Sandusky, passed through the veil and into his eternal reward in the morning hours of Saturday, November 1, 2025. When asked what he wanted people to know from reading his obituary, Gary said, "That I love my family." When asked what he was most proud of in his life, Gary said, "My children and those precious grandbabies."

Gary lived something of an eclectic life. He was born June 24, 1964, to Joseph and Pauline Jones and was raised in the Cincinnati area. A graduate of Cincinnati Christian High School, he went on to study at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. His early career was in ministry, serving as a senior pastor at congregations in Newcomerstown and Port Clinton, and in numerous associate pastor positions over the years. Later in his career, he worked for Cedar Point as their Education and Quality Control Lead in the Food and Beverage Division, and as the instructor for the Restaurant and Hospitality program at Sandusky High School.

He had a passion for communicating-or, as he called it, "being a ham"-and was unnaturally comfortable behind a microphone. Whether hosting a college radio show, singing with a gospel quartet, teaching a class, appearing on a ghost-hunting television show, or announcing a Blue Streak sporting event, he loved to share his special brand of humor and personality with anyone willing to listen. While he loved to perform publicly, the most meaningful use of this passion came at bedtime, when he would read to his children, narrating each character with its own special voice.

With his easy humor and deep understanding of people, Gary made friends wherever life took him. Though his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, the light of his memory will always bring us peace until we are reunited once more.

His memory is cherished by his four children, Alex (Alexa) Jones, Tucker (Elizabeth) Jones, Makayla (Dylan) Ireland, and Bennett Jones, all of Sandusky; his four granddaughters, Evelyn, Larkin, Carter, and Elliana; his former wife, Lori; his mother, Pauline; and his brother, Greg (Rebecca) Jones.

While we are left to share his memory, we are comforted in knowing he is now reunited with his daughter, Madison and his father, Joe, who went before him.

Friends may call family from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Following visitation, there will be a short service, a time of fellowship, and, to honor Gary's memory, food.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in his memory to Sandusky Blue Streak Booster Club, P.O. Box 1444, Sandusky, OH 44871.

Condolences may be shared online at toftfuneralhome.com.
