Gaylord Sheets Taylor, 95, of Marblehead, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025. He was born June 9, 1930, in Ashland County, Ohio, son of the late Mason and Rachael (Sheets) Taylor. He attended Loudonville High School until joining the Army in 1946. He married JoAnn Flickinger in 1950, and they lived in Mansfield. They followed JoAnn's family to Marblehead, where Gaylord worked with his brother-in-law in construction until he was hired at New Departure as a tool and die maker. He worked there for 40 years until retirement. Gaylord loved the lake and owned a Lyman boat for his entire life. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, water skiing, and taking boat trips to the Islands. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cribbage and card games. After retiring, he and JoAnn spent their winters in St. Petersburg, Florida, and later in Naples, Florida. He and JoAnn were members of First United Church of Christ-Congregational in Marblehead, where he served on church council and building and grounds committee for many years.

Surviving are his daughters, Gayla Jo Taylor of Marblehead and Crystal (Greg) Dashiell of Marblehead; granddaughter, Nicole (James) Freeman-Reeder of Lawrence, Kansas; grandson, Ross (Chelsea Molyet) of Fremont; great-granddaughters, Braelyn Freeman, Madelyn Reeder and Charleigh Jo Molyet; sisters-in-law, Janice Taylor of Loudonville, Nancy Taylor of Wooster, and Jane Taylor of Greenwich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Samuel, Mason, John, Alfred, Ralph, and Charles; sisters, Elenora Snyder and Mary Ellen Algire. Gaylord will be missed by his family and friends.
