Gerald Kasper Obituary

Gerald E. "Jerry" Kasper

Sandusky

Gerald E. "Jerry" Kasper, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Thursday morning, March 16, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.

Jerry was born May 5, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Edward and Catherine (Bennet) Kasper.

Jerry was a veteran who proudly served his country in U.S. Army Reserves. He began his career with Buick Motor Division in Flint, Michigan, and in 1976, bought his first Buick GMC dealership in Sandusky. Over the years, he grew his business and ultimately owned and operated six area dealerships. Jerry was a member of Plum Brook Country Club, Sandusky Yacht Club, Sandusky Elks #285, was a past President of Ohio Automobile Dealers Association, past Vice President of National Automobile Dealers Association, past President of Erie County Chamber of Commerce, member of Board of Directors for Sandusky State Theatre, Sandusky Rotary Club, Chairman of the Board for Providence Hospital, and was named Sandusky Register "Man of the Year."

He was also an avid supporter of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Back to the Wild, and all of the area hospitals. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, snow skiing, hunting, being an instrument rated pilot, and loved his dogs, Cooper, Casey, and Sam. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, especially Fourth of July and Thanksgiving holidays.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Cynthia M. (Deyoe) Kasper, whom he married Jan. 13, 1995; daughter, Kelly Kasper of Sandusky; two sons, Brad (Shelli) Kasper of Huron and Bryan Kasper of Sandusky; eight grandchildren, Cassie, Brandon, Joey, Mike, Nathan, Kyle, Carson, and Parker; brother, Davidya (Phoebe) Kasperzyck of Seattle, Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. Philip S. Feltman presiding.

I Made It Home: I just wanted to let you know I made it home. Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh, so new. I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too. Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand. God is taking care of me...I'm in the shelter of His hands. Here there is no sadness, and no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying, and I'll never hurt again. Here it is so peaceful, when all the angels sing. I really have to go now...I've just got to try my wings. PS...I'll be the first face you see when you get here!

Bryan, Cyndi, and all the Kasper family,

Although I haven´t seen GEK in years, Jerry was always my favorite car dealer client! So many fun times on The Office, heading to Rattlesnake Island. Or on the golf cart; Jerry on the fairway, and me supplying the beer and the candy
bars. Ahhh, those were the days. Sad to see him go. Such a fun, kind-hearted, professional! RIP, Jerry. You will be missed by many.
