Gladys Mary (Matso) Dye, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday evening, April 20, 2024, at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Gladys was born April 16, 1936, on Kelley's Island, to Joseph and Mary (Tomko) Matso.

Gladys retired from Erie County Auditor's Office as a Deputy Auditor after more than 30 years of service. Gladys was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and volunteer at Sandusky State Theatre. She enjoyed bowling, casino trips, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, listening to country music, and cooking for her family, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Gladys is survived by her son, Gary (Tracie) Dye of Castalia; grandsons, Hunter (Sabrina) Dye of North Ridgeville and Mason Dye of Sandusky; two great-grandchildren, Lyla and Peyton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Dye in 2002; and brothers, Ralph S. Matso, Lloyd Matso, Eugene R. Matso, and Russell Matso.

Visitation for friends will be 9 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, until the time of prayer service at 9:30 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
