Glenn Hackenburg, 89, of Clyde, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
Glenn was born Nov. 15, 1933, in York Township, the son of the late Lester Sr. and Ada (Elmes) Hackenburg.
After graduating from York School in 1951, Glenn became a full-time farmer. In the off seasons, he worked various jobs including Clyde Porcelain Steel, Metal Hose, Heinz, Horns, Starlight Orchards, and Sugar Beet Company before retiring from City of Clyde where he worked in the Parks & Cemetery Department.
Glenn was a very friendly and polite person who always loved to joke around. He would often reflect back on memories of family, farming, and life experiences. He was a third-generation family farmer where his family recently celebrated over 100 years of farming in rural Clyde, York Township. He took great pride in his family and farm. Glenn never went anywhere without his favorite pet, Sadie.
In 1998, Glenn retired and spent his days spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family watching Cleveland Indians games, going to Amish country, bird watching, going to country music concerts, and taking bus trips to various places.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Tamara (Ott) Hackenburg of Clyde; sons, Michael (Melany) Hackenburg, John Hackenburg, and Mark (Betsy) Hackenburg, all of Clyde; daughter, Tina Buchanan of Clyde, 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his son, James Hackenburg; and siblings, Velda Davenport, Norma Adams, Forest Hackenburg, Lester Hackenburg Jr., and Floyd Hackenburg.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, until the time of Glenn's funeral at 2 p.m. at Foos Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy., Clyde, Ohio, 43410. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Glenn's honor to Grace Lutheran Church, 203 South Washington Street, Castalia, Ohio, 44824.
