Gloria Hiendlmayr Obituary

Gloria Hiendlmayr

Dec 23, 1944 - May 17, 2025

Sandusky

Gloria Hiendlmayr, 80, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 17, 2025, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loved ones.

Gloria was born December 23, 1944, in Sandusky, to the late Ralph and Margaret (Morgan) Ordway. Gloria lived a life defined by strength, warmth, and a deep devotion to family, community, and the world around her. Gloria will be remembered for her intelligence, grace, and determination, which inspired those around her. She brought passion and heart to everything she did.

A proud graduate of Sandusky High School, Gloria found joy early in synchronized swimming, dancing, and playing her piano. She and her beloved husband, Jim, shared many happy years golfing and boating together, always accompanied by their cherished Old English Sheepdog, Captain.

Gloria and Jim were true partners in life and business. Together, they built and operated a renewable energy company at the Erie County Landfill, dedicating themselves to sustainability long before it became a global priority. Their shared vision and commitment made a lasting impact on the community and the environment.

She is survived by daughters, Mary (John) Gaydos of Sandusky, Laura (William) LaGodney of Catawba Island, Erin Karbler of Columbus, and Carla (Chuck Chubbuck) Serra of Chagrin Falls; grandchildren, Jordan (Tyler) Rohrer of Powell, Emma Partin of Sandusky, Jacob Gaydos of Columbus, and Douglas Nickle of Columbus; great-granddaughter, Berkley Rohrer of Powell; brother, Anthony Ordway of Oregon, sister-in-law, Kathleen Ordway of Illinois, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James; son, Robert R. McKay; brother, Dennis Ordway; and sister, Patricia (Ordway) Newton.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

Gloria and I were classmates at SHS. How she loved to dance! We would spend most of our lunch periods in the school lounge trying out new dance steps to the latest songs. When I would see her in later years she talked about her children and grandchildren with love and pride in their accomplishments. Love and prayers for all the family. Rest in peace Gloria.
