Gloria L. (Probel) Hoelzer, 85, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully amongst her family early Friday morning, Sept. 30, 2022, at Willows at Bellevue.

Gloria was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Port Clinton, the daughter of Harold W. and Elizabeth C. "Betty" (Duffert) Probel. Gloria was a 1955 graduate of Port Clinton High School. Gloria worked as a secretary for nearly 40 years for Perkins Schools System before retiring. She was an avid sports fan and loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a big time fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and a true fan of all Cleveland sports teams (Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers). Gloria will be remembered by her family for how she made lifelong friends and acquaintances everywhere she went and within the different groups that she was involved with over the years, like at Stein Hospice, which she truly enjoyed. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Gloria is survived by two sons, Joel (Patty) Hoelzer of Lewis Center, OH, and Daniel (Jackie) Hoelzer of Sandusky; five grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Widdoes, Jordan (Riley) Hoelzer, Brad (Erin) Widdoes, Jenna Hoelzer, and Madisson Hoelzer; five great-grandchildren, Emma, Dean, Rhett, Henry, and Ellie; sister, Carolyn Flury of Cincinnati; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, John L. Hoelzer (2014); and daughter and son-in-law, Louann and Bob Widdoes (2014).

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Gloria's funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Deacon Carolin Steinfelt officiating. Entombment will be at Meadow Green Cemetery Mausoleum, Huron.
