Helen Marie Ohlemacher, 74, of Norwalk, passed away early Thursday morning, April 7, 2023, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Helen was born Nov. 30, 1948, in New London, to the late Dolly (Oney) Gilbert and Chester Gilbert. She graduated from South Central High School in 1966. Helen was employed at Van Dresser Corporation for many years as a machine operator. She enjoyed listening to music, going to concerts, gardening, flowers, and cross stitch. Helen was an avid animal lover. Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her family and friends.
Helen is survived by two sons, Charles (Dawn Capone) Werner Jr. and Michael (Dawn) Werner, both of Norwalk; two grandchildren, Michael and Mikayla; sisters, Joyce (Elmer) Hall, Audrey (James) Harvey, and Sharon Gilbert; brother, Lonnie (Catherine) Gilbert; and many loving cousins and close friends.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley Gilbert and Gary Gilbert.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857. Helen's funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to Humane Society of Huron County, 246 Woodlawn Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio, 44857.
