Sandusky
Beloved husband and father, Vernon "Sonny" Ohlemacher Jr., 89, of Sandusky, passed away surrounded by his family and loved ones Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
Vern was born Jan. 3, 1935, in Sandusky, to Vernon and Lucinda (Faber) Ohlemacher Sr.
Vernon attended Sandusky High School and was proud to be part of the Blue Streak football team gaining him the title "Little Hero." After graduating from Sandusky High School in 1952, he landed his first job as an apprentice at Ford Motor Company, kicking off a career as a tool and die maker. Vern wed his lifelong school sweetheart, Jane Druckenmiller Ohlemacher, in 1960, going on to raise seven children together. In 1969, Ohlemacher Mold and Die was formed in Strongsville. Vern owned and operated Ohlemacher Mold and Die for over 36 years. After retiring in 2005, Vern enjoyed spending his time boating and fishing on the Great Lakes and enjoying the winter months with his wife at their second home in Cape Coral, Florida.
Vern is survived by his wife, Jane Druckenmiller Ohlemacher; five children, Bryan (Gayle) Ohlemacher, Blaine Ohlemacher, Robin (Joseph) Galligan, Sheri (Warren) Davis, and Shelly Burdue; two stepsons, Kim Schaffter and Scott (Marilyn) Schaffter; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for friends will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, until the time of Vernon's funeral at 11 a.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Pastor Wally Gilbert presiding. Entombment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
