Howard R. Weider, 81, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Weider; son, Patrick Weider (wife Michelle); grandchildren, Aidan and Elizabeth; brother, Charles Weider (wife Carol); and nephews and their families.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Weider; parents, Charles and Ruth Weider; and brother, James Weider.
Howard was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He loved sports and was an Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland sports fan. He served in U.S Army from 1961-1964. He worked for over 30 years at A. Shulman factory in Fremont. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling with his wife. Howard spent the past seven years living near his son's family to spend quality time with them.
Howard belonged to various Christian churches throughout his life and was a devoted Bible reader. He volunteered as a basketball coach for 38 years with the Bellevue Immaculate Conception Church CYO program. Howard also wrote and published his own Christian books as part of his ministry.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at Foos & Foos Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitors are asked to wear Ohio State or Cleveland team sportswear. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue. Burial and a remembrance lunch will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Food For The Poor or Shriner's Hospitals for Children.

Howard graduated from Thompson and we were in many activities there. He did very well with his basketball coaching in the CYO League. I always enjoined talking to Howard about sports and his family. Our condolences to the family of Howard. Ron Smith
