Virginia Wilson Obituary

Virginia Frances Wilson

Oct 30, 1937 - Feb 13, 2026

Sandusky

Virginia Frances Wilson, 88, of Sandusky, passed peacefully in her sleep Friday, February 13, 2026.

Virginia was born October 30, 1937, in Sandusky, to Sylvester and Emma (Ostheimer) Weyer. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1955. Virginia worked at Gray Drug in Sandusky for many years. She took great pride in one of her greatest accomplishments-raising her two sons, Robert and Tom.

Virginia had a strong faith and held God and her Catholic faith close to her heart. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and also attended Sts. Peter and Paul, and Holy Angels, so she could receive God's message as often as possible.

Above all, Virginia took great pride in her family. She devoted herself to her husband, Kowmes Wilson, for over 30 years, as well as to her sons, their wives, her three granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters. She will always be remembered for her love, strength, generosity, kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion. She also had a deep love for her church family.

Virginia was also known for sharing her beautiful crocheted kitchen towels. She took pride in making each towel by hand and found great joy in giving them to anyone she met. The only payment she would accept was a hug or a smile. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Yahtzee, word games, puzzles, Sudoku, and video games.

Virginia is survived by her sister, Rose Ann Bower; her sons, Robert (Laura) Hofer and Tom (Tammy) Wilson; her granddaughters, Lauren (Nick) Haney, Jena Wilson, and Sydney Hofer; her great-granddaughters, Stella and Eva Haney; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kowmes Wilson; her sister, Marion Miller; her brother, James Weyer; and her brother-in-law, Charles Bower.

Cremation will take place, and her ashes will be placed alongside her loving husband's ashes privately, as she wished for no service. In accordance with Virginia's wishes, a Memorial Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. A luncheon and gathering will follow Mass.

Much love to Bob, Tom and family, and prayers for Virginia(Ginny) during this very heartbreaking time . The obit was wonderful and I remember the High School photo . That's how I remember her . I'm sure the angels escorted her to to the Lord and she will receive the promises for those who believe and love our Savior !! Remember we are loved there too , and we were never meant to stay here. God Bless and help you during this sad time, but remember the good times with her always.

I've known Jeannie since I was a young girl as she worked side by side with my Aunt at Gray Drug. I always enjoyed our conversations throughout the years and feel that she was an angel. on earth. She will be missed by all that came to know her. My condolences to her family.

I am so sorry for your loss. We lived next door to Jean and Kowmes. She was a wonderful person and we still kept in touch. I pray for her eternal peace with God. She is back with Komes again.

Jean was a beautiful person. She was very faithful in sending birthday cards, calling on your birthday. Her faithfulness in attending daily Mass was admirable. Even when she was in pain, she would do her best to attend Mass. I have been the recipient of many of her crocheted towels and many of her hugs and prayers. May Jean rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon her.

I´m so sorry for your loss. Jeannie and I worked together for many years downtown at Gray Drug. She was always kind and thoughtful. Sometimes I would bring my daughter to work with me. Amy loved when Jeannie gave her jobs- like pricing items with a price gun. She will be missed.

She is so blessed and loved by so many. Her quiet presence spread joy and God's love to all she encountered. Saddened by our loss but grateful for knowing her and her peace she has now.
