Ida Josephine (Estep) Ward, 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, at home.

She was born Nov. 13, 1939, in Clay County, Tennessee, to John Edward and Dovey Olene (Hogan) Estep.

Ida was a homemaker during her children's formative years. She later worked as a child care worker at Head Start and Church of the Nazarene of Sandusky. She was also a caretaker to the elderly. She was an avid bird watcher. She was also active in the school activities of her children and involved in various bowling leagues.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Philip Arnold Ward; brothers, Felman Estep of Indiana and Raymond Estep of Illinois; daughters, Robbin Ward of Sandusky, Gini (Dean) Ward of Florida, and Amy (Jason) Planthaber of Sandusky; son, Mike (Lynnette) Ward of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Jared and Drew Planthaber, Nathan Ward, Kaleigh (Josh) Brown, and Jacob Teets; great-grandchildren, Liam and Gant; and several nieces and nephews.

Ida was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Willowdean Bursdsall, Imogene Burdsall, Louelle Estep, and Susan Estep; and brother, Kenneth Estep.

A life celebration will be Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until the time of Ida's memorial service at 2 p.m. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Todd Nielson will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date.
