Irving G. Hansen, 90, of Berlin Heights, died Monday, April 3, 2023, at his residence.
He was born July 10, 1932, in Toledo, to the late Marvin and Rose (Snyder) Hansen.
Irving attended Tri-State University and received his masters from Toledo University. He was an U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1952-1954.
He retired from NASA after 34 years of service.
Irving loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and restoring the old farm house in Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn (Champion) Hansen; children, Kurt (Colleen) Hansen of Milan, Colleen (Bill) Johnson of Paris, Michigan, and Eric (Theresa) Hansen of Sandusky; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lydia Harding; and brother, Marvin Hansen Jr.
At his request, cremation will take place and private family services will take place.
Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South St., Berlin Heights, is handling arrangements.

Irv was my mentor when I started at NASA and was always working to help the younger employees learn new technologies. It was great working with him on electrified aircraft, and he always knew the best Mexican restaurants to visit wherever we traveled! He was like a father to me and will be greatly missed. My sympathies are with Marilyn and all his family. May God's peace surround you and happy memories comfort you.

I worked with Irv on the space station program at NASA and was always very impressed by his passion for the development of the high frequency ac power system.

I was blessed to have grown up on Smokey Rd, across from the Hansen family. Mr Hansen always had a joke or something to make us laugh when he got home from work. Sending lots of love, hugs, and prayers to Marilyn, Kurt, Colleen, Erik, and their families
