James Blissit Obituary

James Dion Thomas Blissit

Aug 8, 1973 - Jan 3, 2023

Sandusky

James Dion Thomas Blissit, 44, of Sandusky, made his eternal transition Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.

James was born Aug. 8, 1978, in Sandusky, to the late Cathy DeVese Blissit and Murphy "Chicago" Blissit.

James accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age and became a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Curtis A. Brown. James was a 1996 Sandusky High School graduate. He worked various jobs in and around the Sandusky area, primarily in the food service industry. James loved to cook as much as he loved to eat, but what he truly loved to do was laugh. James' sense of humor and quick wit are what people recognized most about him and will miss dearly.

James leaves to cherish his memory his greatest joy, Jaida Raelynn Blissit of Sandusky; sister, Ashley Blissit of Sandusky; brother, Cameron Blissit of Sarasota, Florida; nephew, Dimetrius 'Jr' Koonce; grandmothers, Marjorie Green-Taylor and Mary DeVese, both of Sandusky; great-aunt, Cathreen Jones of Sandusky; great-uncle, Sylvester (Kym) Green of Baltimore, Maryland; aunts, Sonya (Carleton) Walker of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Brigitte (Harold) Green-Churchwell and Tanya Swopes, both of Sandusky; uncles, Michael Green Sr. of Sandusky and Dr. Larry (Cynthia) DeVese of Columbus, Ohio; and additional Green, DeVese, Blissit, Bracken, and Thomas relatives.

James was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Rozina DeVese; grandfathers, James Green and Melvin DeVese; great-grandparents, Wes and Crenell 'Queenie' (Norris) Green; aunt, Jaime Bracken; uncles, Scott V. Green, Charles LaMar Moore, Jamie DeVese, John Green, Goody DeVese, and David Jones; and a host of other relatives.

Friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, until the time of James' funeral at 12 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky.

I am so sorry to hear of James passing. He was a classmate and a Ling time friend. This past August I had the privilege of running into him and having some time to catch up. He spoke of how much he lives his family and how happy he was to be a dad. I pray for peace and comfort for his family and close friends, and I am grateful for the time we spent talking a few short months ago. Rest easy James. God's got you.
