Berlin Heights

James W. "Jim" Franks, 81, of Berlin Heights, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at his home.

He was born Oct. 27, 1942, in Canton, to Paul and Helen (White) Franks.

Jim graduated from Marlington High School and received his Bachelors degree from Manchester University. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for over 30 years. Jim enjoyed anything outside - walking, gardening, bird watching, and was a lover of nature. He was a wonderful father, dedicated to his family, loved sharing his knowledge of the outdoors to his grandchildren, and was always there for everyone. His wife, family, and friends will forever cherish his memory.

James is survived by his wife, Martha (Lamb) Franks of Berlin Heights; sons, Mark (Stephen Johnson) Franks and Gregory (Shelly) Franks; daughter, Charity (Stanley) Beekman; daughter-in-law, Kelly Franks; grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Ashley, Katey, Emily, Darian, Victoria, Carter, Tristan, Annastasia, and Addison; great-grandson, Kaan; brothers, Neil (Betty) Franks and Tim (Mary) Franks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Franks in 2022; and sister, Pamela Quinn.

Visitation for friends will be 12-2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Toft Funeral Home, Hinman Chapel, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Jim's wishes are to be cremated. Committal will follow at a later date.
