James Jennings Obituary

James Ray "Jim" Jennings

Feb 12, 1951 - Aug 24, 2024

Norwalk

James R. "Jim" Jennings, 73, of Norwalk, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at University of Toledo Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 12, 1951, in Port Clinton, to Clifford and Helen (Heiser) Jennings. Jim graduated from Port Clinton High School and attended Ohio University.

Generous, funny, loving, and kind, Jim was unquestionably morally sound and honest. He had a wonderful sense of humor. A man who could fix anything, Jim enjoyed working on cars, sailing when he was younger, traveling, and listening to music. He loved his family and cherished time with his grandchildren.

An Eagle Scout, Jim recently joined Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711. He was an extremely hard worker and C.E.O. for an O.E.M. Manufacturer.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years, Linda (Arlin) Jennings; children, Tiffany (Ben) Few, Chad (Brittany) McGuckin, and Adam (Danielle) McGuckin; grandchildren, Billy, Ben, Dillon, Dane, Samara, Liam, Max, and Ryder; and sister, Patty (Denis) Bork.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and a celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, David McGuckin.

I wish to extend my most sincere sympathy to Jim's family. Jim was a fellow member of the Port Clinton High School Class of 1969 and a Bay Township kid who rode on the bus with me to school. He was a good friend of mine during our growing up years. I remember Cliff and Helen and Patty and Grandma Heiser. We spent a lot of time at each other's homes, and during the course of our Boy Scout camping activities in Troop 361, where his father, Cliff was one of our scoutmasters. Jim, John Meachen and I all earned our Eagle Scout Award together. Then, of course, there was our time together in the PCHS band under the "gentile" tutelage of Earl Warnke, where Jim played trombone. I never held it against Jim that he accidentally shot me with a pellet pistol while we were shooting black birds out my bedroom window; it could easily have been the other way around. I was much more worried that my parents would find out! After high school our life paths diverged more and more. The last few years I did send and receive a few emails with Jim, and perhaps a phone call or two. I am proud to have been his friend and glad to know that he had a full and successful family and business life. Rest in peace Jim; see you on the other side.
