James "Jim" A. McCann Sr., 91, of Huron, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Stein Hospice.
Jim was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late James and Helen (Jablonski) McCann. During the Korean War, Jim proudly served his country in U.S. Marines. Upon returning from his time spent in the military, he spent most of his life working at New Departure as an accountant. Jim was an avid golfer, having two holes-in-one during his lifetime, and a fan of all Cleveland sports. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron, and Sandusky AMVETS Post 17.
Jim is survived by his son, Jim (Sandee) McCann; daughter, Joan Heinrich; grandchildren, James (Amanda) McCann, Stephanie McCann, and Megan (Roberto) Mena; and great-grandchildren, Marina and Liliana Mena.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Hendrickson) McCann; and brother, Chris McCann.
Family and friends may call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron, Ohio, 44839. Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron, Ohio, 44839.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Commons of Providence, 5000 Providence Dr., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.

We knew Jim and Jan from our golf groups back in the 70s/80s and through Church. We always had a good time with them and did lots of laughing. They must be glad to be together again. He will be missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jim was a special friend to my Mom, Rita Taylor, and my family will all miss him.
For some reason when my granddaughter was 2 years old, she was enamored with Jim. We went to the Angry Bull one night for dinner, and she had to sit across from Jim so she could see him. It rained when we were heading back to the car, and all the way back to my mom's house she cried because she was afraid that Jim got wet. She wasn't concerned about anyone else but Jim.
Again, my deepest sympathy.
