Janet was a fellow sub and great friend. She encouraged me through breast cancer, discouragements at work and made me laugh as we shared our battle stories. She's irreplaceable and will be greatly missed. She was truly a gift.

Mrs. Fortune was the first to give me a chance to babysit for her lovely family. I was only 10 but she and I became very close. She taught me so many wonderful things about life. I had the immense pleasure of seeing her in April after not seeing her for over 20 years. Heaven has gained an angel.

What a beautiful, kind soul. Her passion for teaching was felt and touched by so many, including me, as my 2nd grade teacher. Deepest sympathy and prayers to the entire family.

Our kids grew up with Fortune children. I had my first piece of carrot cake over on Orangewood. I was amazed but she was not a bit flustered. A wonderful person and a great neighbor has left us. I am very glad to have known her.

Good memories of teaching together long ago at Shawnee School in Huron. May she now rest in God´s welcoming presence and peace.
