Janet Tomich Obituary

Janet "Dolly" B. Tomich

Mar 14, 1934 - Sep 28, 2025

Sandusky

Janet "Dolly" Tomich, 91, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Dolly was born March 14, 1934, in Sandusky, to the late Peter and Susie (Lombardo) Palmison.

Dolly was a proud graduate of Sandusky High School, Class of 1951. On November 8, 1958, she married the love of her life, Eugene Tomich, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing in 1997. Dolly was a devoted member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she volunteered for both the school and the church, and served on the bereavement team. For many years, she worked as an accountant at Sandusky Dressed Beef before joining her husband full-time as vice president of Tomich Heating and Air Conditioning. She was also a proud former president of the IAB Women's Auxiliary Club, where she cherished her friendships and was very active in club activities and events.

Music was one of Dolly's lifelong passions. A talented accordion player, she taught lessons and, in her youth, entertained on Boeckling boat rides to and from Cedar Point. Beyond music, she found joy in friendship and community. Dolly loved to entertain and was happiest surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter and making memories. She loved her card club and her "Lunch Bunch" group. She also enjoyed shopping and traveling, especially her trips to Las Vegas to play the slots and her favorite destination, the beach, especially in Hawaii.

Dolly will be deeply missed by her daughters, Lisa (Brian) Justus of Dublin, Ohio, and Jeannie Tomich of Sandusky; her grandson, Colin Justus; her sisters-in-law, Patsy (Jack) Best, Barbara (Dave) Ott, and Annette (Dick) Riesterer; and many extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Dolly is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene N. Tomich; beloved son, John N. Tomich, in 1978; sister, Mary Jean Collier; and brother, Pete Palmison.

She will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to faith and family, her strength through loss, and the joy she brought to every gathering.

A special thank you is extended to the family members who lovingly helped care for Dolly, allowing her to remain in the comfort of her own home.

Friends may call from noon until tim of fumeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Wally Gilbert presiding. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Those wishing to contribute to Dolly's memory may do so to Sandusky Central Catholic Schools, 410 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
