Jeffrey Decker Obituary

Jeffrey Decker

Jul 5, 1962 - Jun 24, 2022

Huron

Jeffrey Louis Decker, 59, of Huron, passed away Friday June 24, 2022, surrounded by his family from a sudden illness.

Jeff was born in Sandusky, Ohio on July 5, 1962. He was a proud graduate of Perkins high school circa 1980. He resided in Huron with his high school sweetheart, Lisa (Pullano). They were married for 37 years and had three wonderful children and lots of good memories.

For 37 years, he served the residents at the Ohio Veterans Home. He started out in the mess hall cooking, and then transitioned to the maintenance department. He was loved by many of the residents there and he always went above and beyond for them. After retirement, he still worked in food services part time.

Jeff loved classic cars, especially tinkering with his dream car, a blue '69 Camaro. He loved taking it to classic car shows several times a week during the summer and fall. He enjoyed sports. Especially watching his favorite Cleveland teams. He coached his kids in various sports. He helped turn the bowling club into a varsity sport at Huron High and was known well as Coach Decker. He also spent his summers umpiring at the local ball parks. He enjoyed cooking a good meal for his family, working in his garden, relaxing while camping, or just sitting in his favorite chair watching any of his favorite classic tv programs. During the summer, he would go watch tractor pulls or a sprint car race. He loved animals and had various beloved pets over the years, his most recent pet being his cool cat, Allis.

Jeff was fortunate enough to receive a kidney transplant nine years ago, so as a tribute to those nine extra years he received from the transplant, his legacy will live on through Lifebanc.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa (Pullano); children, Kasey (Nicole) Decker, Cody (Jamie) Decker, and Megan Decker; a grandchild, Evelyn Azale Decker; his parents, Paul (Shirley) Decker and Marilyn (John) Parker; mother-in-law, Nancy Wechter; father-in-law, Wilson (Ann) Pullano; brother, Christopher Decker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great nieces.

Friends and family may call on Thursday June 30, 2022, from 2:30 PM â€" 4:30 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church Gathering Space, 430 Main St., Huron 44839. There will be a mass held immediately following visitation.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior St., Sandusky, OH 44870, to help care for animals Jeff loved. Or to Lifebanc, P.O. Box 933379, Cleveland, OH 44193, to help people in similar situations to Jeff.
