Jeffrey Fantozzi Obituary

Jeffrey P. "Putzy" Fantozzi

Jun 5, 1965 - Mar 3, 2024

Sandusky

Jeff "Putzy" Fantozzi, 58, of Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, March 3, 2024, surrounded by his family at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Jeff was born June 5, 1965, in Sandusky, to Frank "Jerry" Fantozzi and Anna (Mariotti) Fantozzi. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended Terra State Community College and The University of Toledo. Jeff was employed by City of Huron and Florence Township as a Zoning Inspector. He was previously employed by Erie County Auditor's Office for many years.

Jeff loved spending time in the kitchen. His favorite tradition was making his famous "rice balls" around the holidays and cooking other various meals for friends and family. He loved music (especially AC/DC), was an avid concert goer, and spent many years DJing at the Pump on Kelley's Island. He was a talented artist who enjoyed creating personalized portraits for those he loved.

Jeff's life was shaped by the admiration he had for his father. Each day, he worked to emulate his father's "give back" approach to life, not only for his family but those in his community as well. Throughout his life, he was involved with Sandusky Kiwanis Club, Knights of Columbus, and San Marino Community of Sandusky. For many years, he was a strength and conditioning coach for the Huron High School football team.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Anna Fantozzi; two sons, Jerry and Jacob Fantozzi; sister and brother-in-law, Maria and Tygh Tone; niece and nephew, Morgan and Harrison Tone; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Fantozzi; and grandparents, Frank and Laura Fantozzi and Felice and Angelina Mariotti.

It was Jeff's wish to be cremated. A Funeral Liturgy Outside of Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stein Hospice, especially Dawn, Melissa, Michael, and Ross, as well as offer a special thanks to his friends and colleagues at the City of Huron and Florence Township for their support during this time.

Those wishing to contribute to Jeff's memory may do so to Erie County Cancer Services, 505 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

I am going to miss being in a checkout line at Meijer only to hear Jeff three lines down saying "Hey Tim, did you finally get that rash cleared up?" Always smiling and laughing, usually at someone else´s expense. Gonna miss you Jeff. Peace. Love you!

Mom always talked about Lee & Jeff walking to the donut shop next to where they were staying with mom in Arizona, talking up the girls and getting extra donuts to bring back to mom at the hotel. What I wouldn´t give to hear them and their con jobs to get extra donuts out of those girls to bring to my mother!!
