Jerry Taylor Obituary

Jerry L. Taylor Sr.

Jul 26, 1960 - May 5, 2025

Sandusky

Jerry L. Taylor Sr., 64, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle.

Jerry was born July 26, 1960, in Millry, Alabama, to the late David and Virginia Taylor. During his childhood, the family relocated to Sandusky, where he was a 1978 graduate of Sandusky High School.

Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. Following his time in service, Jerry returned home, where he found the love of his life, Donna, whom he would go on to spend the next 44 years of his life with.

Jerry was employed at Firelands Regional Medical Center for more than 40 years. He took great pride in his work and had a strong work ethic. He prided himself in his attendance and punctuality, rarely missing any time off work. Jerry was an avid sports fan and enjoyed talking about sports and politics with family and friends. More than anything, he loved his family very much and always enjoyed spending time with his children.

Jerry leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving, devoted wife, Donna; sons, Jerry (Milan) Taylor Jr., of Columbus and Jerron Taylor; daughter, Dayonna Taylor, of Green; brothers, Charles (Sheila) Taylor and John Taylor, both of Sandusky; and sister, Dollie (Dannie) Hopkins Edmon, of Sandusky. He also leaves behind a number of extended family members and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.

Preceding Jerry in death are his father, David; mother, Virginia; paternal grandparents, Julius and Janie Taylor; maternal grandparents, Verda and Carrie Turner; along with a host of family and friends.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky.
