John Beckman Obituary

Sandusky
John Beckman passed away peacefully in Sandusky, surrounded by his family. Born September 10, 1969, in Toledo, John grew up on River Road in Milan, where his love for the outdoors blossomed. He spent countless hours helping with chores in the garden and yard, always eager to lend a hand and soak in the beauty of nature.
From a young age, John was active in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout-a testament to his dedication and care for his hometown. Those who knew John will remember his gift of conversation. He could talk for hours, always with a story to share, a laugh to offer, and a heart open to others.
John's greatest passion was music. Whether playing at Milan St. Anthony's Church, marching with the Edison High School Band, or performing with his friends in their bands-Hipster, After Hours, Tracer, and The Dix-music was the soundtrack of his life and the way he connected with the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Marilyn Beckman. He is survived by his sister, Marcia (John Collart); brother, David (Nick Wise); daughter, Jessica; and his niece and nephew, Jennifer and Brian, who will carry his memory forward.
A private family service will be at a later date.
To honor John's memory, those who knew him are encouraged to enjoy a scoop of his favorite melon ice cream at the Melon Fest and share a story or two with friends or family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Edison High School Music Department, a place that helped nurture John's lifelong love of music.
John's spirit will live on in the melodies he played, the stories he told, and the love he gave so freely.

I will always look back with fond memories of hanging out with John in school, at work, or on stage.. We would have lengthy conversations the last few years when he was on the Eastern sea board.. Mostly reflecting on the "good" times when rock and roll was in it's prime.. He will always hold a place in my heart..

John was one of the sweetest and most genuine souls I have ever known. I will always remember his laughter and sense of humor. Every circle of friendship requires a goofball to remind them to not take themselves too seriously. Johnny was that guy in our circle.
John had a serious side too. He worked hard to become an Eagle Scout. He earned that award and joined a very distinguished group of young men. He was very proud of that.
John was also an accomplished musician. He performed in the Edison High School marching band and was involved in many stage performances. After graduation, Johnny went on to play in several local bands performing all over the north coast and Lake Erie islands.
John was also a hard worker. He poured everything he had into being successful and was proud of being a part of the team.
The world was a better place with you in it John. I am going to miss you brother!

John and I had a strong musical bond...
We were in stage band together in high school..then we´d sub in on guitar or bass when one of our bands was short a guy later on in life..
We went to see some great concerts together, including his favorite.. "Asia"
I kidnapped him for a week to help me schlep gear for a leg of a club tour when I was in Kidd Wicked.. Warrant and Slaughter were the featured acts.. He told me that was some of the most fun he had..
Rock on John.. I´m going to miss you my friend..!
I hope you bump into Eddie Van Halen and John Wetton up there..
