With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of John Edward Harris, who left this world Sunday, April 5, 2026, at age 76. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in the countless memories and love he gave so freely throughout his life.

John was born November 10, 1949, in Sandusky, to James R. and Mary C. (Davis) Harris. He grew to become someone who touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and strength. He enjoyed Ohio sports, wine, and saving his coins. John found joy in life's simple pleasures, soaking in the stillness of nature, fishing, biking, and enjoying the companionship of his wife and dogs. John and Marsha (Wadsworth) Harris were married for 57 years.

Above all, John cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Marsha; brother, James L. (Joanne) Harris; sons, John (Dawn) Harris Jr., Myles (Monica) Harris, and Ryan (Jennifer) Harris; grandchildren, Shelby (Lorenzo) Surgeon, Madison Harris, Holly Harris, John Harris III, Megan (Kory) Berkey, Paxton Harris, and Madison Howser; and many great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will carry forward his memory with love and gratitude.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Darlene) Harris and Mary Harris, and his daughter, Lisa Marie Harris, who we imagine welcomed him with open arms.

To know John was to be loved by him. His kindness left a lasting imprint on our hearts, and his memory will continue to guide us in quiet moments and cherished stories shared for years to come.

A memorial service will be Friday, April 10, 2026, at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Visitation will be from 4–5 p.m., with service to follow. All who knew and loved John are welcome to attend and celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
