John D. "Jack" Minier

John D. "Jack" Minier, 88, of Catawba Island, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his home. He was born February 13, 1937, in Toledo, the son of David R. Minier and Bernadine L. (Schartzkopf) Lacer. Jack graduated from Port Clinton High School in 1956. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He married Sally Hicks, June 9, 1973.

He worked with the 180th Squadron of the Ohio Air National Guard in Toledo, retiring in 1985. After retirement, he worked at Davis-Besse during outages and also at Midway Marina and Fox Haven Marina. He was a member of Port Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jack was an avid sail boater participating in many regattas. He also spent a lot of time at his farm and rooting for the Buckeyes. Jack was very fond of his four-legged friends, including numerous hunting dogs, family dogs (especially Star) and granddogs.

Surviving are his wife, Sally; son, Sam (Heather) Minier of Springfield, OH; daughter, Heather Boggs of Sandusky; grandsons, Lucas Boggs, John Tyler Boggs; siblings, Sarah "Sally" Bell of Medina, Morris "Skip" (Kathy) Lacer of Helena, Mary Goetz of Oak Harbor, and Mike (Judy) Lacer of Oak Harbor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton, with visitation prior to service from 10– 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Catawba Island Cemetery.
