Joseph Leonard Catri, 94, of Huron, passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, Jan. 26, 2023.

Joseph was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Sandusky. He was the son of the late Anthony and Jeanette (Brengartner) Catri.

He was a 1948 graduate of Huron High School and supervisor at Eastern States / Agway until their closure. He then retired from New Departure, Sandusky.

Joe was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a life-time member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favorite activities were enjoying sunny days outdoors and his daily bike rides around Huron.

He is survived by his sons, Randol (Dee) Catri of Huron, Michael (Lois) Catri of Huron, and Joseph (Sherry) Catri of Huron; daughters, Karin (Jerry) Filips of Solon, Elizabeth Spurling of Huron, and Jana (Tim) Lehky of Daphne, Alabama; 13 grandchildren, Scott Filips, Wendy Catri, Gina (Paul) Linehan, Mike Catri, Angela Catri, Jenny Catri, Derrick Harrington, Anthony Harrington, Emily Harrington, Carl Spurling, Nicholas Lehky, Marcus Lehky, and Abbigail Lehky; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, Grace, Jane, Mary, Sam, Julia, Amelia, Garrett, Bryson, and Estelle; and two great-great-grandchildren, Josephine and Theodore Catri.

He was preceded in death by his wife and high school sweetheart of 72 years, Patricia Catri; brother, Ronald Catri; and his parents.

Visitation will be 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron, Ohio, 44839. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron, Ohio, 44839, with the Rev. Doug Garand officiating. Burial will follow Mass at Scott Cemetery, Huron Avery Rd., Huron.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tennessee, 38105-9959.

Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, Huron, is assisting family.

Joe was one of my favorite co-workers at New Departure Hyatt. He and my father (Donald C. Albert) worked for Wilma Nielsen (forewoman) in the shipping department. They were so supportive of Wilma as she broke ground working in a predominately male dominated supervisory capacity. Joe was such a sweetheart of an individual

Son of Anthony and Jeanette Catri, Joe certainly celebrated family...and extended family. I like to think he was named in honor of my grandmother, Josephine, and both names honored the father of our Heavenly Father, Mary´s husband.

I used to go to their house which was right next to Shawnee School after our Brownie Troop meetings to wait for my mom. Joe and Paddy always made me feel like one of their own. I remember going to his parents house to visit Great Uncle Tony with his Aunt Josie, my gramma. How I miss my childhood when I spent so much time with extended family.

God blessed Joe with an amazingly kind and caring heart. Rest in glorious peace, Joe! God bless his family with many happy memories.

The love he had for his wife and family was evident as you all worked to provide care for him. What a good man! He and Gma Pat certainly loved others well! I am blessed to have known them! Love to all the Catri Family!!
