Joseph Hohler Obituary

Joseph M. "Joey" Hohler

Sep 2, 1954 - Oct 15, 2022

Bellevue

Joseph M. "Joey" Hohler, 68, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Bellevue Hospital with his brothers and sister by his side.

He was born Sept. 2, 1954, in Port Clinton, and was a 1972 graduate of Monroeville High School and EHOVE. Joey also attended Terra Tech Community College. Joey was the maintenance technician at Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum in Bellevue for over 30 years. Prior to this, he was employed at WSOS Community Actions in Fremont for 10 years.

He enjoyed music, having an extensive collection and eclectic knowledge of albums obtained over his lifetime. Joey enjoyed teaching himself to play guitar, watching movies, and was eager to self-educate about whatever he was interested in through correspondence courses and his vast collection of books. He thoroughly enjoyed everything about trains, often going on Mad River railroad excursions and collecting railroad memorabilia.

He is survived by three siblings, Lisette (Kenneth) Post of Fremont, Stephen W. Hohler of Berlin Heights, and Gerald E. (Kelly) Hohler of Bailey Lakes, Ohio; two nieces, Elizabeth Hohler and Sophia Hohler; and nephew, Theodore Hohler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita J. (Landoll) Hohler on June 20, 2022, and Joseph C. Hohler on Sept. 27, 2022; and two siblings, Michelle Hohler and Wayne Hohler.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. There will also be visitation 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, until the time of Joey's funeral at 12 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Chasney officiating.
