Joseph C Rayman
Apr 21, 1929 - Feb 20, 2026
Huron
Joseph C. Rayman, 96, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a brief illness.
He was born April 21, 1929, in Maple Ridge, Pennsylvania, to Agnes and Walenty Rayman as their second child. He had an older brother, Frank Rayman, and younger siblings, John Rayman and Helen Faust (née Rayman).
He was first and foremost a beloved husband, then father, grandfather, and eventually great-grandfather. He married the love of his life, Anna Marie (née Jara) Rayman, and they enjoyed 66 years together. They had five children, Joseph Rayman (Elmo Wendorf) of Ixonia, Wisconsin Patricia Rayman of Huron, Nancy (Rich) Riesterer of Huron, Robert Rayman of Huron, and Jean Rayman (Norm Campbe,ll) of Huron.
He is also survived by their cherished grandchildren, Todd (Katie) Riesterer of Sandusky, Kyle Riesterer (Liz Allinder) of Benson, Arizona, and Ryan (Kylie) Riesterer of Toledo, OH, proud parents of the adored great-grandchildren, twins Ronan and Zoey Riesterer, and Paul Riesterer. All of whom filled their lives with joy and happiness.
He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Patricia Jara of Boca Raton, Florida, and Doris Rayman (John) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Frank Rayman, John Rayman, and Helen Faust; and his beloved wife, Anna. He missed her every single day.
He served in the Army with the 1902nd Engineer Aviation Battalion. He commonly referred to it as "that man's Army." He then began working for Columbia Gas, first in Lorain, then Sandusky, and finally in Norwalk. After 35 years, he said he started his last job-retirement-also for 35 years, something he took great pleasure in mentioning.
He and Anna were married in June 1956 and celebrated 66 years of children, schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, driving lessons, and lots (and lots) of vacations. Starting with their children and later with their grandchildren, they traveled all over this country and Europe. Later in life, they changed homes here, became "snowbirds" in Florida near Cape Canaveral watching the rockets launch, and as Anna said, were "out of the cold." He would often reply, "How about a road trip-how many tanks, one, two, or three?" They gave each of them a sense of adventure and a love of seeing new things.
They enjoyed their years together dancing, making meals, entertaining friends and relatives, and most of all, each other. Everyone-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends-will miss them both very much. They were larger together than apart.
We are celebrating them reuniting for their final rest. So, to make a long story short… or let me put it this way…
