Joseph M. Zippay, 62, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
He was born Jan. 28, 1961, in Port Clinton, to Gertrude (Bass) and Joseph Zippay Sr. He married his sweetheart, Marnie Carico, on Jan. 29, 1999, and celebrated 24 years together.
Joe was a CNC machine operator and quality control. He enjoyed coin collecting, boating, fishing, and mushroom hunting. His greatest pride and love was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed and always remembered for his smile and the love that he gave.
Joe is survived by his wife, Marnie Zippay; son, Lorin (Contessa) Zippay of Utah; grandchildren, Kennedy, Chezney, and Coupe Zippay; siblings, Virgina Unbehaun of Texas, Cletus Cutcher of Port Clinton, Patricia Hall of Michigan, Barb Yant of Indiana, Jim Rutledge of Arizona, Bonnie Carter of Port Clinton, Tim Cutcher of Port Clinton, and Larry Cutcher; stepbrother, Rich Cutcher; stepsisters, Susan Cuthcher and Julia Cutcher; sister-in-law, Susan Brough; brothers-in-law, Rick (Michelle) Davis and Kris (Kim) Carico; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to nephew, David Carter and longtime childhood friends, Guy Abbott and Vince Gardner for all they have done for Joe.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sonya Davis, David Cutcher, and Martha Benore.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Getner Wolf Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton. Joe's funeral will be 9 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at River View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joe's family.
