Laurel Jean Persons, 74, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at Fairview Hospital.
She was born in Lakewood, Ohio, to Joseph and Clarie Barbeck and grew up in North Olmsted. Laurie graduated from North Olmsted High School and later worked for North Olmsted School District.
In 1982, she married Charles Persons and moved to Huron, where they resided for 40 years. Laurie and Charles were active members of the Huron Yacht Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Laurie is survived by her sisters, Nancy (Dennis) Schleich and Karen (Joseph) Carney, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Baxter.
There will be no visitation or memorial service.
Foster Funeral Home & Crematory in Huron is assisting the family.

Laurie and I lived one street from each other in Park Ridge sub in North Olmsted. We were best of friends walking to school, going to football games, dances, just about everything together. I remember Laurie's sister was dating a teacher at school and we would get a ride home from school occasionally in his
Jaguar XKE. We lost touch after high school when George and I married and moved to North Carolina where he was stationed in the Navy. I came back for 50th class reunion 6years ago and was hoping she would be there.
Laurie and I were at a North Olmsted football game in 9th grade when we met Jim Lightner and George, who I later married.
Sending healing sympathy from both of us to the family and friends.

Laurie and Charlie were our treasured friends, for decades. We shared holidays, family celebrations, vacations...triumphs and tragedies. I will cherish the memories of my friendship with Laurie, forevermore.
