Leona A. (Claus) McLoughlin, 91, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Bellevue, Ohio, to Jacob and Veronica (Scherley) Claus. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1949.
She is survived by a daughter, Colleen (McLoughlin) Maitland; son, George B. (Aiza) McLoughlin; grandchildren, Matthew Maitland, Sarah (Mike) McNeill, Caitlin (Josh) Latimer, Mary Katherine (Shane) Rodriguez, and George M. McLoughlin; great-granddaughters, Madeline and Mathilda McNeill, both of Virginia; sisters, Rita Welsch of San Diego, California, and Eileen (Clayton) Siesel of Bellevue; and brother, Jake (June) Claus of Huron. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Leona was preceded in death by two sons, Michael J. McLoughlin and Steven G. McLoughlin; and sisters, Alma (Bernard) Alt, Stella (James) Perrine, and Rosemary (Walter) Mesenburg.
Leona was a faithful Catholic and member of Church of the Redeemer in Mechanicsville, Virginia, where Mass was offered in her memory Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue, followed by internment of her ashes at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local chapter of NAMI (Nat. Alliance of Mental Illnesses) or donor's choice.

Lee worked with me at Pearson's Corner and Pole Green Cafeteria. She was such a part of my time working in the Cafeteria. We kept in touch after we both retired. She was such a loving and special friend. I will miss her so.

Lee was a wonderful and sweet person. She was willing to help out where she could. A good friend to all who knew her. She will be great missed! It was a pleasure to know her. My prayers are with her family.
