Sandusky

Lois "Kim" Vaccaro, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Stein Hospice Care Center, surrounded by her family after a brief illness.

Kim was born October 25, 1954, in Sandusky, to the late Charles T. and Lois M. (Wylie) Decker.

Kim graduated from Sandusky High School in 1972. Over the years, she held various jobs, including Hills, a mail carrier at Huron Post Office, and Dick's Carry Out. Later, she returned to school at Lourdes University, where she earned her degree as an occupational therapy assistant, and went on to work in several settings, most recently at Providence Care Center in Sandusky. Kim was a devoted member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where she often attended daily Mass, was devoted to Eucharistic Adoration and found great strength in her faith. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden and loved taking the camper on trips and creating lasting memories along the way. Kim was a cherished nurturing mother and grandmother who cherished every moment with her family.

Kim is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Dan Vaccaro, whom she married June 22, 1973. She is also survived by her three sons, Paul (Lindsay) Vaccaro, Patrick Vaccaro, and Drew (Heidi) Vaccaro; daughter, Adrienne Vaccaro; daughter-in-law, Kim Vaccaro; eight grandchildren, Logan, Emily, Caleb, Dani, Dylan, Colton, Chase, and Christian; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Kim is preceded in death by her sons, Matthew Vaccaro in 2009 and Danny Vaccaro in 2016; and her siblings, Larry Decker and Kathy Risenburg.

I am at a loss for words, my prayers go out to the family who need each other now in your hour of grief. Life and distance has kept us apart with so few visits. For that I am sorry.

May the LORD bless and comfort you during this time of sorrow in the loss of a truly beautiful soul, wonderful person, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Celebrate Kim's life, remember all the good times and precious memories shared with her and keep her alive in your heart forever as I will.
