Lori S. Hermes, 64, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday evening, March 28, 2023, at Providence Care Center, surrounded by her loving children following a three-year battle with brain cancer.

Lori was born May 16, 1958, in Elwood City, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Besso) Mariani.

Lori was employed with Providence Care Center for the past 27 years, working as a nursing assistant. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky, and Ohio Farm Bureau. Lori enjoyed family vacations, reading, and taking care of her Providence Care family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved being their biggest fan at their extracurricular activities.

Lori is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Barry) Nimrichter of Sandusky; sons, David O. "Davy" (Emily) Hermes Jr. of Milan and Daniel M. Hermes of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Max, Abe, Eli, Harper, Avery, and Viann; sister, Patty Mariani of Sandusky; brother, Mike (Lisa) Mariani of Sandusky; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Lori was preceded in death by her husband, David O. Hermes Sr.; and two daughters in infancy.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
