Mary Frances Evans, 83, of Lakeside-Marblehead, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton.

She was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Auburn, West Virginia, the daughter of William Hayward and Verna (Moore) Hall. She married Leonard Thomas Evans on Oct. 12, 1968, at Auburn United Methodist Church. Mary worked as a teacher's aide and then a cook for Port Clinton City Schools, retiring in 2012. She was a member of both Peace Lutheran Church and Family of Faith Methodist Church (formerly Faith United Methodist Church) in Port Clinton. She was also a member of Port Clinton Eastern Star Chapter No. 267. She was very close with her family and known by many for her cooking. She loved to sew and collect angels, bells, souvenir spoons, and salt and pepper shakers. Mary was generous with her time and over the years supported many local causes.

Mary is survived by her husband, Leonard (Tom) Evans; daughter, Connie Frances (Douglas) Holly of Amherst; son, Hayward Thomas (Sandy) Evans of Port Clinton; five grandchildren, Michael (Kate) Holly, Robert Holly, Michael (Kim) Marinoff, Amber (Jerry) Sexton, and Shawn (Stephanie) Evans; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hayward and Verna (Moore) Hall; and siblings, Jessie LaVonne Goff, Robert Gail Hall, and William Henry Hall.

Mary's memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at Family of Faith Methodist Church, 430 Jackson St., Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452, with the Rev. Ted Austin officiating.

Afterwards, a funeral reception will be at 3 p.m. at Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge, 118 Monroe Street, Port Clinton.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospitals or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
