Mary Fitz Obituary

Mary Ann Fitz

Dec 6, 1936 - Dec 29, 2025

Sandusky

Mary Ann (Weber) Fitz, 89, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully late Monday afternoon, December 29, 2025, at Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home in Huron.

Born December 6, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph Sylvester and Loyola Ruth (Oberst) Weber. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary's High School. Mary Ann had worked for Erie County Commons Plea Court, for Judge McCrystal, for over 20 years before retiring.

In years past, she enjoyed going to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to attend the State Fair, and she also volunteered to deliver meals for "Meals on Wheels" to those in need. She was active through the years with Bonis club as well as reading the bible to those elderly and young home-bound individuals. And for years, she had a real passion and love for quilting.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky Bonsai Club, and A.R.C. of Erie County.

Mary Ann is survived by two sons, Robert F. Fitz of Casa Grande, Arizona, and David J. (Stella) Fitz of St. Augustine, Florida; a sister, Jean Louise Conroy of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan; a brother, Joseph (Joanne) Weber of Marana, Arizona; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 60 years, Robert J. "Bob" Fitz, March 14, 2019.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until 9:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, January 6, 2026, at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, with the Rev. Prashanth Kumar officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.

Family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her memory to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or to one's favorite charity.

Mary Ann befriended a wonderful woman with disabilities many years ago. She would make cakes for her birthday, invite her over for holidays and dinners as well as advocate for her needs/services. She was a lovely, warm-hearted person who made such a difference in the life of someone who needed her. It was a pleasure knowing her. Peace and strength to her loved ones.

Aunt MaryAnn wasn't one for having her picture taken but here's a few from my archives. A couple from their home in Mohawk, and a few from a Christmas get together they hosted in December 2014 and one from a dinner where we met them at a restaurant in december 2018
