It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved Melissa "Missy" peacefully passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, with family by her side.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca (Butler) Katz; stepfather, George Katz; daughters, Marina (Ford) Bucemi and Maya Ford; grandchildren, Lio, Mila, and Nina; siblings, Michelle (Ford) Haynes and Christopher Ford; stepsiblings, Cindy Katz and Shari Katz; and a host of adored aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and forever friends.
Melissa was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Lawrence and Rive' Butler.
Missy was born with a true sense of adventure. She went from being a young girl playing in corn fields, creeks, woods, and wheat fields, to a grown successful woman who hiked lava fields in Hawaii, lived and worked in France, and loved to visit Germany to shop the Christmas Markets, all the while making friends where ever she went.
She loved entertaining and had a strong sense of family. Missy made the time to plan family events for holidays with homemade meals and candies, and camping trips with activities everyone would enjoy from crafts to campfire meals.
Those who truly knew her know that her love for animals was always strong. She never walked away from a stray, but instead gave them a loving home (and matching Christmas pajamas).
She is and will always be with us in our hearts and memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to your local hospice organization.
