Michael R. Matheny, 43, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, after battling a lengthy illness. Michael was born September 5, 1981, in Norwalk to Gerald Matheny Jr. and Patricia Bleile.
Michael was a 1999 graduate of Norwalk High School and a 2006 graduate of Bowling Green State University, where he earned a degree in Sociology. He dedicated his career to supporting both children and adults with disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and a better quality of life. He also worked in hospitality and food service management. Michael was an avid Ohio sports fan and enjoyed watching every game. In his spare time, he liked to read and listen to music, but his most cherished time was spent with his family and friends.
Michael is survived by his parents, Gerald Matheny Jr. and Patricia Bleile; stepbrothers, Robert (Ala) and Adam (Shelby) Bleile; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Daniels; his stepfather, Jeffrey Bleile; his paternal grandparents, Gerald Sr. and Janet Matheny; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Leona Daugherty.
A memorial visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, OH 44857.
