Michael White Obituary

Michael G. "Mike" White

Nov 10, 1946 - Aug 14, 2022

Huron

Michael G. "Mike" White, 75, of Huron, passed away late Sunday morning, Aug. 14, 2022, at University Hospitals of Cleveland, after a battle with esophageal cancer.

Mike was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Sandusky, the son of George Malcolm and Marjorie Josephine (Andres) White. He was a 1964 graduate of St. Mary's High School and later attended John Carroll University in Cleveland. Mike worked at Delphi Inc. for nearly 40 years as a tool and die maker before retiring.

He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and attending their many sporting and other social activities. He loved to golf and was a member of several golf leagues over the years and also went on many golf outings, with his buddies, to Myrtle Beach. Mike achieved the ultimate accomplishment in golfing by having a hole-in-one on #15 at Thunderbird Golf Course (South). He was a long-time fan of Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State University Buckeyes, and University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Mike was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, member of U.A.W. Local # 913, Sons of the American Legion Post # 83, and the C.H.S.A.F. (Catholic High School Athletic Federation) and past president.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Thelma M. (Kopp) White, whom he married Sept. 2, 1967; two sons, Jeff (Joyce) White of Lorain and Brian (Mary) White of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter, Maureen (Mike) Burger of Willard; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Joey, Ethan, Ross, Evan, Emma Kate, Easton, Natalie, and Jonathan; brother, Bob (Mary) White of Ghanna, Ohio; two sisters, Connie (Fred) Rockwell of Milan and Terrie (Bill) Ehrnsberger of Port Clinton; and nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Mike Capizzi; and two sisters-in-law, Lisa Johnson and Barb White.

It was his wish to be cremated. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. (with a time to share memories) at David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, with Fr. Zachary Brown officiating.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Stein Hospice, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870; Victory Temple Soup Kitchen, 1613 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or Sandusky Central Catholic Athletic Boosters Club, 410 W.
