Nancy Lee Poorman (nee Schellhammer), 79, a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where she was raised and lived. She moved with her husband to Ohio in the early 60s, eventually residing in Amherst in her later years until her passing.

Nancy worked most of her career as a human resource manager for Revco. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, and camping at Berlin Heights Holiday Park and Shaun Acres. She also enjoyed camping with her family at the annual family reunion camping trip over every Fourth of July weekend. Her family will always remember her as a caring woman, full of love for others.

Nancy's survivors include her children, Rhonda Daugherty (Jim) of Amherst and Rick (Judy) Poorman of Huron; grandchildren, Joe Milks, Shay (Bee) Volkens, Ryan Poorman (Jessica Henry), and Brandon Poorman (Chelsea Rogers); several great-grandchildren; and siblings, Shirley Waite, Evelyn Croftcheck, Sandy Bush, and Judy Stoltz.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ronald C. Poorman; several siblings; and parents, Francis and Anna Mae Schellhammer (nee McIntrye).

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio, 44052.
