Nancy Ray-Leiter, 94, of Catawba Island and Bellevue, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Clyde Gardens Place.

She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Toledo, the daughter of Henry Tanner Jr. and Lucy (Hensley) Tanner.

A longtime resident of Catawba Point, Nancy loved everything about the lake, especially listening to the ferryboat horn, fishing, trips to Put-In-Bay, and inviting her family to gatherings on weekends there. In her later years, she enjoyed wintering in Arizona with her daughter, Sue. She was a proud grandmother and avid supporter of her grandchildren, attending many of their sporting events.

Nancy worked at Bellevue Municipal Court for many years. When she retired in the early 1990s, she was serving as Clerk of Courts. She was also very involved with Abigail Ministries in Norwalk.

She is survived by four children, Thomas (Sandra) Ray of Bellevue, Ronald (Terri) Ray of Bellevue, Susan (Ronald) Kuhn of Arizona, and Melissa Wright of Florida; daughter-in-law, Judith Ray of Hiram; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and siblings, Judy LaVallee of Texas and Richard (Beth) Tanner of Florida.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, M. Paul Ray, whom she married Aug. 28, 1948, and who preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1995; second husband, Charles Leiter, whom she married in 1997, and who preceded her in death in 1999; son, David Ray; grandson, Jude Ray; and sister, Bonnie Fleming.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center Street, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery.
