Nancy Rossi Obituary

Nancy J. Rossi

Jan 20, 1934 - May 27, 2024

Sandusky

Nancy J. (Currier) Rossi, 90, of Sandusky, a longtime area businesswoman, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, May 27, 2024, surrounded by her family at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.

Nancy was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Oberlin, the daughter of Leon Coates and Helen Angeline (Dudley) Currier. She was a 1952 graduate of Henrietta High School. Over the years, she helped thousands of women dress for their weddings as the owner of The Brides World. Nancy helped open the store, which is celebrating its 60th year of business this year, on the balcony of the old Frankel women's department store in downtown Sandusky in 1964. The store moved to a standalone store on Columbus Avenue in a building that is currently part of the State Theater complex and eventually to its current location in 1977 across from Sandusky High School on Perkins Avenue. She remained a full-time worker in the store well into her 80s and even tried to work one day a week over the last five months after she had turned 90, helping brides, their wedding party, and their mothers.

Nancy was a member of Huron United Methodist Church, Sandusky Orioles Club Nest # 279, and I.A.B. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Dan (Josie) Angelo of Sandusky and DeAnn (Joe) McKillips of Norwalk; grandchildren, Celia (Mike) Carbo, Katy (Justin) Willis, Christian Angelo, Joshua (Nathania) Johnson, and Emily (Easton Spangenberg) McKillips; stepgrandson, Eric (Autumn) McKillips; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Kayla (Brett) Langley, Ella McKillips (with brother on the way in June), Emery Angelo, and Michael Carbo Jr.; stepchildren, Michael Rossi, Mark (Karen) Rossi, Bradley (Jeanne) Rossi, and Chrisanne (Richard) McNeil; stepgrandchildren, Morgan (Joe) Eberling, Madelyn McNeil, Laura Rossi and Brad, Brian (Kayla) Rossi, Brendan Rossi, Dominic Rossi, and Margaret Rossi; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, G. Walter Dunlap (1991) and Frank R. "Dick" Rossi (2021); two sisters, Joyce Glime and Jean Straub; and three brothers, Joe, Walter and Gerald Currier.

It was her wish to be cremated.

Visitation with family and friends will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024, until the time of Nancy's memorial service at 11 a.m. at Huron United Methodist Church, 338 Williams Street, Huron, with the Rev. Pam Sayre officiating. Burial will be later at Camden Township Cemetery, Kipton.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Huron United Methodist Church, 338 Williams Street, Huron, Ohio, 44839, or Back To The Wild, P.O. Box 423, 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, Ohio, 44824.

Arrangements have been entrusted to David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.

Dan, I'm sorry for your loss. Your mom was a star in her field. I wonder how many brides she helped turn into princesses for beautiful weddings.
Savor your memories.
