Norbert J. Stang, 90, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at his residence following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Monroeville, to Harlon and Ruth Stang and was a 1951 graduate of Monroeville High School. He was a lifetime farmer, carpenter, and fisherman. Norbert enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, fishing, playing cards, traveling, woodworking, and playing horseshoes while wintering in Florida for 15 years. Norbert was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Monroeville, member of the Holy Name Society, and lifetime member of Ohio Farmers and Norwalk Eagles.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace (Long) Stang; two sons, Richard (Tracy) of Norwalk and Leroy (Jodi) of Monroeville; daughter-in-law, Robin Stang of Monroeville; brother, Ronald (Shorty) Stang; grandchildren, Heather, Adam, Holly, Andrew, Stephanie, Chad, Kyle, Carrie, Patrick, Brooke, and Bethany; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, Harlon and Ruth; three sons, Roger, Russell, and Thomas; brothers, Kenneth, Charles, William, and Frederick; and sisters, Elizabeth, Marianne, and Susan.

Visitation for friends will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville. Fr. Chris Jesudhason will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at St. Joseph Social Hall following the committal service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870, or St. Joseph Endowment Fund, 79 Chapel St., Monroeville, Ohio, 44847.
