Norman E. "Norm" Guiher, 80, of Wakeman, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Dublin Retirement Village.

He was born Aug. 20, 1942, to Elmer and Louise (Tausche) Guiher.

Norm was a quiet, pertinacious man with a gentle sense of humor and many passions in life. He had quite a knack for turning those passions into paying occupations and businesses. Norm grew up in South Euclid and was the middle son, with two siblings, Louise and Elmer "Butch" Guiher.

Norm joined U.S. Air Force in 1960. He was stationed at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico, where he worked as a mechanic on B-52 engines and flew as part of a maintenance crew during the Vietnam war.

Later, while working as an air traffic controller, he met and married his colleague, Anita Hanko, who introduced him to Clydesdale horses. Together, they started Clearview Farms in Berlin Heights. They also started a popular Christmas tree farm and raised sheep. He was happiest tinkering around the barn and working on his next project.

With Anita's love and support, Norm tenaciously battled Parkinson's for over 20 years, never letting the disease dampen his spirit.

Norm is survived by three children, Mitzy (Angus) Taggart, Kelli (Ross) Fleischmann, and Michael (Gayle) Guiher; and six grandsons, Aiden, Roen, and Finn Taggart, Hank Fleischmann, and Gavin and Gunner Guiher.

He was preceded in death by his second wife of 44 years, Anita Guiher; parents, Elmer and Louise; and sister, Louise Ewart.

Visitation for friends will be 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Toft Funeral Home, Wakeman Chapel, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2023, at Cable Road Cemetery, Florence Twp.
