Patricia Holzwart Obituary
Patricia Mums Holzwart
May 6, 1937 - Jul 25, 2025
Bellevue
Patricia "Mums" Holzwart passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, July 25, 2025, at The Willows at Bellevue. She was born in the town of St. Ives, England, to Eric and Florence Annie (Tyler) Woolstenholmes.
On December 19, 1964, she married Roger Holzwart, who survives her. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Patricia is survived by her children, Bradley (Beverly) Holzwart and Suzanne (Alan) McGinnis, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Brenda Tait of Ramsey, England, and Susan (James) Anderson of Casselberry, Florida.
Patricia was also a devoted grandmother to five grandchildren, Danielle (Steven) Sterling, Ashley (Jacob) Egan, Madison Holzwart, Aaron (Victoria) McGinnis, and Alicia McGinnis. She was also a great-grandmother to Landen Sterling, Lincoln Sterling, Caiden Sterling, Ruby Egan, Eloise Egan, and expecting great-grandson, McGinnis, in October.
From 1974 until her retirement in 2008, Patricia served as the heart and soul of the Bellevue High School library. Known affectionately as "Mums" by students and staff alike, she was more than a library and study hall aide, she was a mentor, a confidante, and a gentle guiding light. Her warm smile, endless patience, and genuine care left an indelible mark on generations of young minds. Her talents earned her the 2012 Big Red Service Award for her dedication to Bellevue extracurricular activities, which included ticket sales, serving as an honorary member of many high school clubs, chaperoning field trips, and giving lectures on English culture. Patricia's presence in the school was a source of comfort and inspiration, and her legacy continues to echo through the halls of the school and the hearts of those she touched.
Words can't describe the impact that Patricia had on the students, community, and those who knew her. She created the first diabetic support group at The Bellevue Hospital and was a devoted member of the former Groton Lutheran Church, attending faithfully until her health declined.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and great-grandson, Jackson Lee Holzwart.
To know Patricia was to love her. Her warmth and unwavering kindness made her a beloved figure in her family, her school, and her community. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the countless lives she enriched.
Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, where additional visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until a private funeral service begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
At Mum's request, rather than send flowers, please send memorials in her honor to Bellevue Alumni Association, P.O. Box 191, Bellevue, Ohio 44811, to help continue her legacy.
