Patricia Seeholzer Obituary

Patricia Jean Seeholzer

May 9, 1934 - Jan 18, 2025

Kelleys Island

Patricia Jean (Greeney) Seeholzer, 90, residing on Kelleys Island, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, January 18, 2025 at her home.

Pat was born May 9, 1934, in Cleveland to the late Norman and Laverne (Eiben) Greeney.

Pat graduated from Parma Senior High School in Parma and earned her bachelor's degree from Ohio University. Pat married James "Jim" Seeholzer in 1956 and spent her life dedicated to her family and the island she cherished. A passionate educator, she taught at Kelleys Island School for 40 years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.

Pat was a pillar of St. Michael Catholic Church, fondly known as "Mother Superior" for her tireless service assisting priests, preparing weekly bulletins, and serving as a Eucharistic minister. Her dedication extended to the Kelleys Island community, where she served on Village Council for four years, was president of Altar Rosary Society, an active member of VFW and Women's Auxiliary for Kelleys Island Fire Department, and also volunteered at the library. In her spare time, Pat enjoyed taking art classes, reading, and, most importantly, spending cherished moments with her grandchildren.

Pat is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Phillips and Karen (Frank) Baker, both of Sandusky; two sons, Jim (Jude) Seeholzer of Huron and Chris Seeholzer of Florida; ten grandchildren, Patrick (Missy) Phillips, Devin Phillips, Kathleen Phillips, Kelley (Cody) Martin, Dana (Berkley Miely) Seeholzer, Abbey (Scott) Manion, Ryan (Danielle) Baker, Kyle (Katie) Baker, Lauren (Hannah) Seeholzer-Smith, and Chad Seeholzer; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon (Bob) Miller of Norwalk; brother, Kevin (Debbie) Greeney of Cleveland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Seeholzer in 2003; son, Michael Seeholzer; and son-in-law, Gary Phillips.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with liturgical services conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Kelleys Island in the spring. Burial will follow at Kelleys Island Cemetery, Kelleys Island.

Those wishing to contribute to Pat's memory may do so to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 219 Chappell St, Kelleys Island, OH 43438.

I love to remember my experiences teaching with
Pat for six years on Kelleys!
Pat was always genuine! While having lunch with her every day, she shared loving stories of island life and raising her family. I feel blessed to have those memories. She made a positive impact on my life.
